Oklahoma State assistant Joe DeForest will be coaching against the Cowboys next season, as reports have the long-time OSU assistant heading to new Big 12 member West Virginia.
While neither school has confirmed the move, the Tulsa World is reporting that DeForest has resigned his position at Oklahoma State. As we have reported, the move is likely to take a position as defensive coordinator for the Mountaineers.
DeForest has been at Oklahoma State since 2001 as associate head coach and special teams/safeties coach.
West Virginia is scheduled to begin Big 12 play next season, pending the outcome of a lawsuit against the Big East, which is trying to hold the Mountaineers to conference bylaws that require a 27-month waiting period.
West Virginia is coached by Dana Holgorsen, who left a position as offensive coordinator at Oklahoma State following the 2010-11 season.
