Hog Seniors Go Out On Top

Posted: Updated:

ARLINGTON, Texas -- What started out as a poorly executed game of football ended as a fitting conclusion for the Razorback seniors.

In Friday's 26-16 victory over #8 Kansas State in the AT&T Cotton Bowl, #6 Arkansas led the Wildcats just 3-0 at the end of a first quarter filled with several penalties as miscues.

But as they have for the last four years, Arkansas looked to its playmakers of the 2008 recruiting class to lead the Hogs once more.

In the second quarter, senior wideout Joe Adams scored the game's first touchdown on a 51-yard punt return. It was his fourth punt return TD of the season which ties the SEC record.

Arkansas carried a 19-9 lead into halftime. When Kansas State scored to pull to within 3, the Razorbacks responded again with Tyler Wilson connecting with Cobi Hamilton for a touchdown; capping a 60 yard scoring drive.

Kansas State's final offensive play ended with an interception by senior linebacker Jerico Nelson, another key contributor over the past four years.

Several of the 2008 recruits played as true freshman. It was also head coach Bobby Petrino's first season in Fayetteville.

The records went from 5-7 in 2008, followed by 8-5 in '09, then 10-3 including the school's first-ever BCS Bowl appearance, and now the team's first 11 win season in over two decades.
