BIRMINGHAM - AL -

A hospital stay for a child can be scary.

That's why toys and little red wagons can be a huge comfort for little ones.

Recently the Center Point Fire Department.... made a special donation in honor of another who gave his life in the line of duty.

They found a fun diversion in a little red wagon... during time in the hospital.

A little red wagon can be just the get a way a child needs to get a boost during an illness.

"With the wagons it feels like they're outdoors.", One mother said.

Greeter. "To see their face is amazing when they see the wagons."

All this joy... thanks to a big donation from the Center Point Fire Department.... to Children's of Alabama....

All in honor of a fallen brother.... in the line of duty.... Ricky Davis.

He was always giving to others.

Chris Horn a fire fighter says, " I've seen many time Ricky would stop and buy someone a hamburger if they didn't have money. There was never a place Ricky didn't pray lunch... he's gonna pray he's gonna pray for our safety over our crews....

And because of Ricky Davis' caring giving spirit... these firefighters raise money in a local golf tournament... to help that giving spirit... continue....

That translated into these little red wagons... to give children... a reason to smile.

Chief Donnie West of the Center Point Fire Department says, "Lot of these kids in the hospital we run on everyday we bring em here to be treated just an extension of our love."

Horn: "Everyone is in a hurry up time ... we stopped to give to others."

Just as Ricky Davis would have done.
