There's new technology that makes it easier to switch from far to nearsightedness.

It's called, Empower.

These state of the art eyeglasses made their debut today at Eye Care Associates in Birmingham.

With the touch of a finger, these glasses allow users to switch from far to near sightedness.

The design was created by Pixel Optics.

The company says, convenience like this is revolutionary.

Tammy Blackwell with Pixel Optics says, "The thing they like the most about it is the control...the ability to turn it off and on as needed, they like the fact that they have wider fields of vision, particularly for near vision, and they like the fact if they want to put it in automatic mode, they can, with just a swipe of the temple."

The Empower frames are a little more expensive than regular frames.

They cost about 30 percent more.
