There was a new face at Monday's Jefferson County commission meeting. For the first time since the appointment of sewer receiver John Young, someone from the sewer department showed up.
David Denard, the director of environmental services, took questions from commissioners about the status of the department.
Bankruptcy Judge Thomas Bennett has not said whether Young will control the sewer system or have to step aside.
If Young goes, it's not clear whether he will remain in Jefferson County or if he'll continue to be paid 500 dollars an hour.
Commission President David Carrington says that would be up to the judge who appointed him.
But Young's departure would put Denard in charge.
Until the judge makes a decision, Denard is temporarily in control of the department.
