Thousands of children across Central Alabama and across the country will have big smiles this Christmas and holiday season.

The annual Marine Corp's Toys for Tots fundraiser kicked off in Birmingham Tuesday with a very big delivery. The U.S. Navy's Blue Angels delivered more than 4,000 toys provided by defense contractor Lockheed Martin. The fleet rode on a C-130 cargo plane, also called "Fat Albert," to bring in the toys at the Alabama Air National Guard Base.

Alabama Governor Robert Bentley, along with dozens of community organizers and families, welcomed the toys and encouraged people to give. This year's focus is geared toward helping children affected by the devastating April 27th tornadoes. Toys for Tots organizers say they collected nearly 60,000 toys in 2010, and hope to collect at least 80,000 this year.
