Barber Vintage Festival kicks off Friday

BIRMINGHAM - AL -

"Everything is so nice," Lisa Knight said. "There's so much to see and so much to do."

So much to do and only one weekend to do it. It's the seventh annual Barber Vintage Festival. Those who come back year after year say it continues to get bigger and better.

"It has grown tremendously," James Hiter said.

"It was real tiny and now it's probably going to be one of the best in the country," Marino Perna said.

And apparently the world.

Rick Humphrey says 85 percent of racers aren't from the Birmingham area and some are from as far away as Australia and New Zealand.

Here in the United States, 44 states are represented and advance sales are up 40 percent.

"The attendance and the amount of participation has just grown by leaps and bounds and with the weather like it is, we are anticipating great growth," Humphrey said.

And those leaps and bounds haven't gone unnoticed...making the Vintage Festival a must year in and year out.

"When you find a place that's interesting and good to you, then everybody keeps coming back and that's really what it's all about is coming back," Perna said.

"Just all the people that come out to see this and it's great," Susan Whitt said. "Because they're all ages and it's a great family fun weekend."
