Candace joined ABC 33/40 in August 2011 as a reporter/multi-media journalist. She is part of the news team dedicated to the station's new afternoon news program, Focus @ 4:00.
The Texas native was bitten by the journalism bug in high school and the rest is history. Before moving to Birmingham, Candace worked for WCTV in Tallahassee, Florida, where she covered everything from immigration reform to the aftermath of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Before working at WCTV, Candace interned and worked as a production assistant at KDFW in Dallas, Texas. In college, she worked as a contributor to the school's daily paper, The Shorthorn.
In 2009, Candace earned a master's degree from Florida State University's College of Communication. While working on her master's, she studied abroad in the UK where she interned at the Travel Channel International. In 2006, she earned her bachelor's degree in Journalism from the University of Texas at Arlington.
When she's not out chasing stories, Candace enjoys reading, exercising, spending time with friends and family, and cheering for her Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks. She is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, the first Greek-lettered sorority established by African American college-educated women.
Candace is excited to live and work in the Magic City. If you have story ideas, please feel free to drop her a line.
