In his first television interview since stepping down as the head coach of the Tulsa Shock, Nolan Richardson tells NewChannel 8 Sports that "It was time for the Shock to go in a different direction."
After starting the season 1-10, Coach Richardson resigned following the July 8th loss to the Phoenix Mercury.
He said he believes the Shock will be successful, but it's going to take time and better players.
He doesn't regret his decision to coach the Shock, just not winning basketball games. The Shock fans were always supportive and he said he appreciated that.
Nolan believes interim coach Teresa Edwards will do a fine job. He says he has a lot of respect for her talents and wishes her the very best.
He looks forward to getting back to working with his foundation and make the speaking tour.
