Birmingham City Schools have an amazing resource! That resource is it's volunteers.
This week the City School system leaders said thanks at a luncheon at the Boutwell Auditorium.
These volunteers honored are those who volunteer more than 50 hours per week. These are the people that keep the school system running. They are the backbone of their schools and community.
Recent studies show that the happiest people on the planet are those that give. What a great way to invest in ones community, to volunteer at a school. That's a true investment in our future. More than money, an encouraging word to young people to dream and go after those dreams are priceless.
In the last two decades volunteers have logged more than a million hours at the school. It's this kind of commitment that can show the next generation what really matters, and that is investing in the future of our children.
Way to go volunteers!
