Down two games to none in their best-of-five series, the Tulsa Oilers couldn't have felt too good about their chances in the first playoff series for the team in six seasons. But, the Oilers find themselves in the second round of the playoffs thanks to Saturday night's 5-2 win at the BOK Center.
Jack Combs and Chad Costello each scored two goals and assisted on another as the Oilers completed the stunning comeback.
Combs scored unassisted six minutes into the opening period for an early 1-0 lead. Costello made it 2-0 eight minutes later and pushed the advantaged to 3-0 with a goal late in the second period.
Mississippi made things interesting in the third, scoring two goals within a minute of each other, cutting the lead to 3-2 with more than 16 minutes remaining.
But, Braden Walls and Combs scored 37 seconds apart later in the period to push the lead back to three goals. Mississippi didn't threaten again the rest of the way.
Tulsa advances to the second round of the playoffs for the first time since 1994. They'll meet the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs in the second round beginning Friday in Bossier-Shreveport.
