Birmingham, AL - Mayoral candidate Emory Anthony strikes out Tuesday night. This was his third run for Birmingham mayor and he says it will be his last.
Anthony, a lawyer, judge and political insider, watched the numbers come in at the Bender and Agboola Law Firm on 18th Street. Despite the loss he says he wouldn't have changed his campaign. He feels he got his main points across. Anthony says when you offer yourself to the citizens and they choose somebody else, you need to accept that. Anthony says he may not hold the top seat in city hall but he will remain involved in city affairs.
"Birmingham has said they want a different direction and I'm not a part of that direction but I will be a part as a citizen. Birmingham is my home. Of course, I'm not going anywhere. I'm not going to move out of Birmingham," says Anthony.
Anthony unsuccessfully ran for Birmingham mayor in 1991 and 1995.
