Anniston, AL - Anniston City Council and the City School Board agree that resource officers should be hired at the Middle and High Schools, but it could take a while.
On Friday members discussed ways to hire, pay and manage officers should a formal decision to bring them to the schools be made.
Student safety is in the spotlight after the family of 12-year old Trey Figures blamed but the child's suicide on bullying. But some council members say they spoke out about adding officers to the schools before his death.
Superintendent Joan Frazier adds, "I do think that this tragic event that we have been living through has really put some things into the forefront."
Early next week Anniston City Schools plans to release the findings of an investigation into school bullying.
