Washington, D.C. - Alabama Rep. Artur Davis voted against the health care bill that passed in the House of Representatives. Davis, a Democrat, was the only member of the Black Caucus to do so.
That vote did not go unnoticed. Reverend Jesse Jackson told the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation that "you can't vote against health care and call yourself a black man."
For his part, Davis said, " the best way to honor Reverend Jackson's legacy is to decline to engage in an argument with him that begins and ends with race."
On Thursday night, Jackson says he had spoken with Davis and assured him of his "abiding admiration."
