Boaz, AL - A Thursday morning search for a missing Boaz man ended with the tragic discovery of his body. Michael Winford Williams was found dead in a field off Thornhill Road near his family's home. He'd been missing since Saturday, November 7th. A family member reported him missing on Tuesday, November 10th.
On Thursday the Etowah County Sheriff's Department led a second search of the area.
"While speaking to family and friends, during the course of the investigation, it was decided an expanded search needed to take place," states Chief of Investigations Mike Jones.
They found his body just before 10 a.m.
A homicide investigation is underway. That's standard procedure any time there's an unattended death.
Right now there's no evidence to support that.
Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin explains, "Nothing indicates that there's any foul play of any type right now but we're going to treat it that way until something comes up and they can tell us.">
Williams' body was sent to Huntsville for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
