Anniston, AL - A new auto-parts supplier will soon build it's first Southern manufacturing facility in Alabama. It's moving in to a 60-000 square foot building in Anniston that was designed to attract new industries and it appears that plan worked.
Initially twenty-five people will be hired by Industry Products Company - also known as IPC.
On Wednesday afternoon the company unveiled its plan to begin manufacturing in Anniston. The Ohio-based business specializes in converting and assembling auto parts and it has a history of doing business with Honda and Toyota.
Owner Linda Cleveland says she's been interested in expanding to the South for a while but it was a business opportunity from honda of Alabama that sealed the deal.
IPC will make cargo floor and water shields that will be placed in the upcoming Honda Odyssey.
That business deal led to a search of towns in the region. The company cites two reasons for choosing Anniston - the community and the city's willingness to assist them.
Two people from the area have already been hired to oversee the facility. More jobs will come after a few sample orders are manufactured early next year.
Cleveland adds, "As the number grow and we get sort of things settled down and other things brought down here we'll be at full till by probably June.">
All hiring will be done through Alabama Industrial Development Training. For more on AIDT
