Birmingham, AL - Tonight, Birmingham played host to the first ever visit of India's ambassador to the United States. Ambassador Meera Shankar met with a small group of local business leaders at The Innovation Depot this afternoon before heading back to the nation's capital. She says Alabama is a good fit for business development deals with India. Shankar says, "the fact that there are very skilled and educated people over here is a plus and there is a very strong and dynamic Indian American community which can act as a bridge between the 2 countries." Shankar says India is looking forward to Governor Riley's trade visit to India next year.
