Man Killed after Birmingham Shooting; Suspect Surrenders

The shooting happened about 8:00am Thursday in the 300 block of 3rd Avenue SW. Officers were called to the area after getting a report that a person was shot.
The victim had been shot in the lower abdomen. Investigators are not releasing the man's identity until his family is notified. He was taken by ambulance to UAB Hospital and doctors later pronounced him dead.
A suspect surrendered to Birmingham Police at the department's Tactical Headquarters.
Witness say the victim and the suspect had been fighting before the shooting.

Are the going to sue the landlords for the fight and subsequent shooting like they did for the "deplorable" conditions of these apartments not too long ago?
