Atlanta, GA - A former Jefferson County commissioner once convicted on corruption charges will appear before a federal court of appeals next week.
Gary White's attorneys will make oral arguments before the 11th US Circuit Court of Appeals on Friday. White was convicted of bribery and conspiracy by a federal jury in Montgomery.
However, a federal judge in Birmingham thew out that conviction and ordered a new trial after he decided the trial should not have been moved out of the district.
The government disagrees. If a new trial moves forward it will be heard by Judge Scott Coogler, the same judge who is now hearing the Langford case.
