Jacksonville, AL - The Calhoun County Sheriff's Department recruited corrections officers and other positions on Friday. Each division of the department put on demonstrations and exhibits at Jacksonville State University. The idea was to show potential recruits what it's like working in law enforcement.
Mounted patrols and members of the drug task force offered insight to their jobs. One crew demonstrated what it's like to perform a high-stakes tactical rescue utilizing the department's tank. Similar demonstrations inspired many current deputies to join the force.
Kennith Nesmith says, "That's the way I was inspired and I'm sure other ones that are on the tactical teams throughout the state."
The event coincides with JSU's homecoming festivities.
