Talladega, AL -
A hard day's work paid off for students at C.L. Salter Elementary School in Talladega. There was a team effort to build a pond which is part of the Alabama Outdoor Classroom Program. It's the first project of its kind in the county.
Students, teachers, parents and volunteers installed the water garden.
Just before the school day ended the group christened the pond by turning on the fountain and adding goldfish.
Principal Jenni Griffith says "In one day we built the entire pond by hand. No equipment. Just shovels, wheel barrels and lots of labor from the children.
Every student at Salter Elementary took part in building the pond.
