Man Killed After Jumping From Ambulance on I-65

Alabama state troopers say 55-year-old Larry James Salter of Greenville was being taken by ambulance to Bryce Mental Hospital in Tuscaloosa. About 9:30am, he jumped out of the ambulance while it was on I-65 just north of Morris.
Salter was taken to UAB Hospital in Birmingham where he died. He was originally being transported by a Blount EMS ambulance.
Salter was hit by a 1999 Buick Century driven by Edith Joice of Hayden.
Joice was also injured and was taken to St. Vincent's Hospital.
