Birmingham - Midtown Pediatrics and Brookwood Medical Center are the only medical providers in Jefferson County with the nasal mist vaccine for H1N1.
By Friday, The Alabama Department of Public Health says 30,000 doses of the mist version of the swine flu vaccine will be available across the state.
Children 6 months to 2 years old, pregnant women and patients with asthma are among those who cannot take the nasal spray. While the state says shots will begin to appear next week, it does not expect to get a large shipment of injectable vaccine until late October. Health officials say injectable vaccine is appropriate for all patients except babies under 6 months old.
