Birmingham and Irondale, AL - Clear images should help someone identify a man accused of stealing at UAB's Rec Center.  Also, Crime Stoppers needs tips on the two people who ripped off a safe from an Irondale gas station.  Cash rewards are waiting.

UAB Rec Center Theft:  Police say a man stole a wallet from an unsuspecting victim at the UAB Rec Center earlier this month.  Surveillance video shows the man sitting on a weight machine.  However, he spends his time looking around the workout area instead of actually lifting any weights.

Then, crystal clear images show the man at a bank on Green Springs Avenue.  Police say in those photos, the man was trying to use the victim's bank card.

Crime Stoppers is certain someone will recognize the man from the video attached to this article.  Anyone who can identify him is urged to provide an anonymous tip on who, or where, he is.

"As soon as somebody sees this guy, our phones are going to ring off the hook," Sergeant James Lewis said.  "We just need to know who this guy is.  If I was him, I would call."

Irondale Stolen Safe:  This case is a little more challenging.  While cameras captured two suspects tearing through a gas station and stealing a safe, the culprits had their faces covered.  Even so, Crime Stoppers believes someone can help detectives identify and arrest the suspects.

"When people commit these crimes, they tell somebody.  So that's the information we're looking for," Lewis said.  "Who's out there talking about breaking into a store on Grants Mill Road in the Irondale area?"

Lewis added that the men unloading the safe after the theft must have caught someone's attention.  Couple that with some guys suddenly coming into a lot of money, and you might have the tip detectives need.  All tips will be reviewed by law enforcement, and if your tip is the first to lead to an arrest, you qualify for a cash reward.

Anyone with information on either case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (205) 254-7777.  Callers are given code numbers when they provide tips, meaning they never have to give their own names.  If an arrest is made based on a caller's tip, that caller can use his or her code number to claim a cash reward.

Also, encrypted tips can be submitted by logging onto www.birminghamcrimestoppers.org and clicking on the "submit an online tip" link.

Crime Stoppers is a partnership between local law enforcement, the Birmingham Regional Chamber of Commerce and ABC 33/40.  Together, our goal is to make our community a safer place to live and work.
