Birmingham, AL - From Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper:

"Brandon Martin, age 17, was killed on a Saturday night this past September while he was out with his friends.  It happened as they were riding down the 2900-block of Avenue Z.  Martin and a couple friends were leaving the area when gunshots started coming from the alley.

Martin was hit, and his friends were able to drive further into Ensley where they saw some officers and got help.  But it was too late for Brandon Martin.  The bullet ended his life.

We know the streets are filled with rumors - and real information - on what happened to Brandon Martin.  Now, we're asking you to get up the courage to give us a call.

You can dial Crime Stoppers at (205) 254-7777, and let us know what you've heard.  Don't worry about retaliation... because no one will know it was you who called.  We'll never ask your name.  And Crime Stoppers cannot call you to court to testify.

There's also a cash reward if your tip is the first tip to lead to an arrest.

If you want safer streets, you have a role to play.  Let us know what you know.  We'll check it out.  And we'll work to bring Brandon Martin's killer to justice.

With Crime Stoppers, I'm Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper."
