After the volatile week on wall street last week, many may wonder what the days to come hold. A nationally known theologian and author has some wisdom for those in business. He says business is a matter of faith, and running it Biblically will result in success.
With talk of the banking fiasco and the stocks plunging this week, a voice from a Biblical scholar encourages good business practices.
Dr. Wayne Grudem says business can be more successful if it's based on Biblical principals. He explains all that in his latest book, "Business for the Glory of God".
Recently he explained his perspective at a luncheon at Hunter Street Baptist Church in Hoover.
DR. Wayne Grudem says, "It never hurts a Christian business person to err slightly on the side of generosity... I've heard many business people who've tried to do that and God has blessed them."
He says honesty in business returns a blessing for all parties.
Wayne." Part of the way God wired us as human beings that we have a drive to develop and invent things and then enjoy them. "
And businesses big and small provide what you need.
Wayne. "It takes big business to build computers or cars so doesn't that mean the products those businesses make are good? Every business transaction is that way... It's doing good for one another... Isn't that a wonderful thing? "
He points out greed leads to the eventual destruction of the business.
Wayne, "Are there distortions? Sinful things wrong things people do to cheat their employees... Shoddy products sure.... Those are distortions and abuses and don't last long."
He believes basing business on a simple principal will lead to success.
Wayne says, " Isn't that part of what Jesus said you should love your neighbor as you love yourself? "
