Crime Stoppers needs anonymous tips to help identify two women seen in two recent cases.  One involves a couple of purse snatchings and stolen credit cards at UAB.  The other case involves stolen checks, and the suspect could be around Hoover or Alabaster.

Anyone with information on either case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (205) 254-7777.  Callers are given code numbers when they provide tips, meaning they never have to give their own names.  If an arrest is made based on a caller's tip, that caller can use his or her code number to claim a cash reward.

Also, encrypted tips can be submitted by logging onto www.birminghamcrimestoppers.org and clicking on the "submit an online tip" link.

UAB Purse Snatchings: She was wearing scrubs, so she easily blended in.  Police say a purse snatching suspect roamed the halls of the Spain-Wallace and Sparks buildings at UAB September 17 and 18, stealing purses both times.

The suspect was caught on surveillance video and can be clearly seen in the video attached to this article.  Crime Stoppers needs someone who recognizes her to provide a tip on who she is or where she can be found.

Stolen Checks Suspect: This woman was seen at two banks in Hoover.  In one case, she successfully cashed a stolen check.  In the other case, her plan did not work, but she still got away.

Police believe the woman could be getting into unlocked cars and taking a check out of the back of the victims' checkbooks.  Credit cards stolen from one victim were used in the Alabaster/Saginaw area.

As in the UAB case, police hope someone who watches the video attached to this article will recognize the woman.  If you have seen her, Crime Stoppers needs your anonymous call to help detectives find the woman and make an arrest.

Crime Stoppers is a partnership between local law enforcement, the Birmingham Regional Chamber of Commerce and ABC 33/40.  Together, our goal is to make our community a safer place to live and work.
