Tuscaloosa's Metro Animal Shelter is overwhelmed. Workers are taking in about 60 animals a day which is twice as many than normal this time of year. They say they don't know why but know that a lot of animals in the area are not spayed or neutered and believe that is contributing to the overpopulation. Most of the packed out shelter are dogs but kennels normally for cats that have had surgery are being used to keep strays. As a result, workers are having euthanize more animals than normal to avoid overcrowding. Also, adoptions are down a little. Shelters are encouraging people thinking about it to come in and adopt.
