Birmingham, AL - From Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper:

"This case went largely unknown to the public because it happened on the same day as Hurricane Katrina.  But we're doing this story because someone can help us find whoever killed Steven Huff on the night of August 29, 2005.

Huff had called a relative to buy him some Oxycontin.  He was then told to meet the relative at the gas station at the Bush Boulevard exit in Ensley.  Once there, the relative and a friend got 400 dollars from the victim for the drugs.

But then they came back with fake Oxycontin.  Huff called the drug dealer -- who's known as "Black" -- and told him he ripped him off.  "Black" then told Huff to meet him at an address on 21st Street, Ensley.

It turns out, Huff went to that address twice.  The first time, he ran over some men when the drug deal went bad.  The second time, he called the dealer and threatened to kill him because he'd been ripped off.  It was that second time when Huff himself was shot and killed.  The killer was in a black truck that had pulled up next to Huff's van.

Now, we're asking -- what have you heard?  Who was the drug dealer?  And who was in that black truck?  We need to solve these crimes, so they don't keep happening.

Call Crime Stoppers at (205) 254-7777.  You'll never give your name.  And there's a cash reward if your tip leads to an arrest.  It's time to make our streets safer.

With Crime Stoppers, I'm Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper."
