It's called the Mountain Echoes Festival because of Jacksonville's proximity to the mountains. Local folks gathered on the public square on Saturday to enjoy music, food and fun, and to simply get together.
Along with the vendors, the arts and crafts and the classic automobiles on display. there was a more serious side to the fun. Mayor Johnny Smith says the festival attracts visitors, who he hopes will see what Jacksonville has to offer and then return to spend some money and get the tax dollars flowing.
But, for most of the hundreds who turned out, this was more about sharing some fun and taking pride in their community.
