On Thursday, October 18, the Sheriff's Office Highway Safety Unit stopped a 2001 silver Ford Mustang for a traffic violation on I-20 near I-459. This vehicle displayed Mexico tags. Upon further investigation, 12 Kilos of cocaine and 1 Kilo of ICE (crystal methamphetamine) were found hidden in the vehicle.
These dangerous drugs have a street value of a little less than $1 million. They were believed to be destined for the Southeast for processing, and some of the finished product would probably have turned up in the local drug market.

A 51 year old female from Paraeuara, Mexico, Teresa Medina Pallares, was arrested and charged with trafficking cocaine and methamphetamine. She is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on bonds totalling $3 million.
