From Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper:
"Whenever there's a homicide, people start talking. And now, we need to know what you've heard out on the streets. We need to find whoever killed Ronald Lewis.
It was August 19, 2007. Mr. Lewis and some friends were at Club Red, near Five Points South. After he left, Lewis was walking alone, along the 20th Street alley, when he was confronted by at least two young men. He was shot there in the alley, and that's where he died.
There were several people coming and going. But no one has come forward with information leading us to the killer.
Here's what we need to know:
First, who were those men who confronted Mr. Lewis in the alley? We know he'd been in a fight with some men at the club about a week before this happened. Do you know if those men could be involved?
Did Ronald Lewis have a grudge against anybody? Or was he concerned someone was out to harm him?
You can tell us anything you've heard, and as your chief, I promise, you won't have to worry about retaliation. Crime Stoppers is here for cases like this. Just dial (205) 254-7777.
You'll never have to give your name. And if your tip leads to an arrest, you qualify for a cash reward. Even then, we still won't ask your name.
It's the least you can do for Ronald Lewis and your community. With Crime Stoppers, I'm Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper."
