Alabama delegates kicked off day one of the Democratic National Convention with a breakfast at their hotel.
Featured speakers included Representative Artur Davis and former University of Tennessee quarterback Heath Shuler who is now a North Carolina Congressman.
Former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman spoke to Colorado delegates at their breakfast Monday morning.
He is calling on Democratic members of Congress to follow trough on the recommendation that Karl Rove be held in contempt for refusing to testify before a House Judiciary Committee about Siegelman's case.
Alabama delegates spent the afternoon at a lunch hosted by Congressman Davis and then at a welcome party called "Sweet Home AlObama."
They made their way to the Pepsi Center for the opening session of the convention and listened to numerous speakers and party leaders.
The evening ended with Michelle Obama speaking from the convention stage.
