(Sports Network) - The Florida Marlins purchased the contract of veteran catcher Paul Lo Duca from Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday.
Lo Duca, 36, was signed to a minor league contract by the Marlins on August 9, and had a .423 average (11-for-26) and seven RBI in seven games for the Isotopes.
Lo Duca was released by the Washington Nationals on August 1 after suffering from chronic problems involving a fractured right hand suffered in mid-April. He has spent most of the season on the disabled list and hit .230 with 12 RBI in 46 games with the Nationals.

This is his second stint with the Florida organization as he also played for the Marlins for half of the 2004 season and the entire 2005 campaign.
The club designated pitcher Justin Miller for assignment following Friday's 6-5 loss to the Chicago Cubs to make room on the roster for Lo Duca. Miller went 4-2 with a 4.24 earned run average in 46 games for the Marlins this season.
