In a small shop in Tuscaloosa, at the end of a gravel road, David Mills continues a family tradition.   Hand making high quality personalized putters just like his father T.P. Mills did for decades.
They are the putters of presidents, Dwight Eisenhower had one, So did Richard Nixon, and Gerald Ford.   Ronald Reagan puttered around on Air Force One with his T.P. Mills, and George Bush (web|news|bio) Senior personally met the maker, a tuscaloosa postman who loved to play golf.  David Mills says his dad came off the last green one day after losing a little money and was upset.  he gave his putter a whirl and  told himself he could make a better putter than he was using.
So, T.P. Mills started making putters in the small workshop behind his house.
Eventually,  the biggest names in the game got a grip on his putters, from Arnold Palmer, Chi Chi Rodriguez, Hale Irwin, Gary Player, Lee Travino, and dozens of other famous names.
Over 40 golf championships have been won with Mills' putters.
T.P. died two years ago, but he passed on his passion for making high quality putters to his son.
