Southside, Ala. - Detectives say a check forgery ring stretches from Birmingham to Harpersville to Etowah County and possibly beyond.
Authorities have now released surveillance video in hopes that a viewer can help detectives identify and locate the female suspects. In the video, police say the suspects are cashing checks that had been forged from the Methodist Homes for the Aging along Montclair Road in Birmingham.
"To me, there's no difference in this and robbery," Southside Investigator Clay Johnson said. "The only difference is they didn't come in with a gun. They came in with two checks. They appeared to be payroll checks. One of them was for around 900 dollars. The other one was for 800 dollars."
The women successfully cashed the checks at a bank in Southside and got away. Detectives say the women have pulled the same stunt in Harpersville, Jefferson County, and possibly Boaz.
If you recognize the women, you are encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at (205) 254-7777. Also, encrypted tips can be sent online by going to

If you provide information to Crime Stoppers, you will not be asked for your name. Instead, detectives will assign you a private code number. If an arrested is made based on your tip, you can then use the code number to claim a cash reward.
