Despite a down economy, people are still showing they will spend money to celebrate the Fourth of July.  Local vendors say fireworks sales are strong this Independence Day weekend.

Summer holiday travel is at a minimum, but families are staying home and teaming up with friends or their local church for their celebrations.

Fireworks retailers say many of their sales are for tiny neighborhood fireworks shows.

Some stores, such as the Supershow Fireworks in Trussville, are offering fireworks packages so people can coordinate their own pyrotechnics display for July 4th.
