Fairfield - Police say one suspect wanted in connection with the shooting death of a jewelry store owner showed no remorse when he was arrested.

Virginia State Troopers arrested Edward Morsby III at a gas station Friday morning on the way to a family reunion. They say he was smiling and wearing in a blood stained shirt that said, 'I'm the one that got away."

Police arrested his accomplice, Perry Cauthen, Jr. earlier in the morning at a Birmingham apartment.

But police believe Morsby fired the shot that took the life of a Vietnamese man who was trying to live the American dream.

Cauthen was held at the Fairfield Police Department Friday in a red tank top. But the outfit Morsby was found wearing at a Virginia gas station had police talking.

"No remorse. The t-shirt said, 'I'm the one that got way,'" said Fairfield Police Chief Patrick Mardis.

Mardis say the two men knew what they were doing Thursday night when they entered Jewelry For Less, smashed several cases, and stole a chain necklace before Morsby shot and killed owner, Trieu Cao Duong, with a single shot.

"These guys spent considerable time in the store for this incident occurred. They were shopping around looking at different merchandise," said Mardis.

Like Duong, Osman Saw immigrated to Alabama and opened a hair shop next door to Jewelry For Less.

He didn't hear the gunshot but noticed the men going back and forth from the store to their car.

"I feel sorry for him because we come here and this thing happen," said Saw.

"He was always back there doing what he did best- fixing jewelry," recalled Henrietta McDonald, a customer.

McDonald stood at the closed shop wearing the watch Duong had just fixed.

"Sad, sad, very, very sad. He's going to be missed," said McDonald.

While many are grieving, the police are focused on Morsby's transfer to Alabama.

"We look forward to going and getting him," said Mardis.

Police say both men have had run-ins with the law.

They now face charges for capital murder and unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

Jewelry For Less will remain closed until Wednesday.
