This week almost 300 people are visiting East Alabama. They are showing what a little work and a "do it yourself attitude" can achieve.
From scraping paint to adding a second coat, volunteers from across the country will do it all this week. Anything from roofing, siding, to putting in wheelchair ramps.
Group members call themselves the World Changers and there's a good reason for that. With each family that is helped, the group members feel that they are inspiring others.
Tracy Brock says, "We've had a lot of community involvement, a lot of volunteers. Working on the other projects in Alabama we've never had such help, so much support."
They're a helping hand for twenty nine homeowners in Anniston, Oxford and Jacksonville.
Deborah Ingram watches as the World Changers repair her home. She says, "I thank God for them. They've been working real hard, I know that."
For this group the thanks goes to a higher power. In between painting boards workers take devotional breaks. You see, they're all missonaries who paid to travel here, just to work.
Erin Millwee is here because she likes helping people, "and the smiles that you get to put on every body's face and just doing what God wants."
That message brings tears to the eyes of one homeowner. Ingram calls them "very happy tears."
