A committee from the Alabama Republican Party is standing by its bid to decertify a family court judge's nomination.
The steering and candidates committee announced the decision about Ray Bryan on Wednesday.
Bryan said he was "very disappointed" by the committee's decision, but not surprised.
The committee must await a decision by Jefferson County Circuit Judge Scott Vowell before it can proceed with decertification. Vowell said Thursday afternoon he would make a decision after the holiday weekend.
Bryan defeated Mannon Bankson in the June 3 Republican Party primary for the Calhoun and Cleburne County presiding family court judge. No Democrat filed to run.
Bankson challenged the nomination, claiming that Bryan had missed the deadline for filing a campaign finance report.
