Crime Stoppers is always ready to take anonymous tips on any crime.
This week, detectives have a particular focus on three recent cases.
Video and pictures can be seen by clicking the video link on this page.
Case #1: This stems from the beating and robbery of a woman on Birmingham's Southside. The crime occurred along 20th Street South on Sunday, June 29.
Birmingham detectives obtained a cell phone picture of a man described as a person of interest. Police hope someone will recognize the man and help detectives identify him. They believe the man could lead authorities to the three men who beat and robbed the woman.
The man in the cell phone photo is seen wearing a backwards "Atlanta" cap and has several tattoos across his upper body.
Anyone who recognizes him can call Crime Stoppers at (205) 254-7777. Detectives will take the tip and do their homework, and if an arrest is made based on the tip, the anonymous caller qualifies for a cash reward.
Case #2: Police released surveillance video from the June 9 robbery of a Winn-Dixie store along Montevallo Road in east Birmingham. Two masked gunmen are seen on the tape forcing employees to give them money from the store.
While the video does not show the suspects' faces, detectives are certain word has leaked as to who was behind the crime. Anyone who has heard anything about the case is asked to provide an anonymous tip. As in all Crime Stoppers cases, cash rewards are offered for any arrests.
Crime Stoppers wants to calm any fears of retaliation among anyone with information. Crime Stoppers never asks callers for their names, and callers cannot be summoned to court to testify. Callers are kept anonymous by being given secret code numbers instead of providing their names.
Case #3: Police are working to identify two women seen using credit cards that were stolen from an elderly resident of a Vestavia Hills assisted living home. It is unclear when the thefts took place, but the suspects were seen in April and May shopping in stores along Aaron Aronov Drive in Fairfield and along Lakeshore Drive in Homewood.
While it is unknown if the women are the ones who actually stole the cards, they are accused of shopping with the cards at the elderly victim's expense.
Anyone who knows the women's names and/or whereabouts is urged to call Crime Stoppers at the number above as soon as possible. Police say your anonymous tip could be the key to making sure other victims are not targeted.
