Jefferson County - Early Sunday morning, vandals attacked Mountianview Baptist Church in Grayson Valley. Pastor Mike Rouse received a call around 2 AM. Investigators told him to come to the church, because a van was on fire. When he arrived, Rouse also found a damaged church bus. Vandals had knocked out several windows. Authorities believe the suspects used fireworks in the front seat of the van to start the fire. Investigators have revealed two other vans had socks hanging out of their gas tanks.
The vehicles were used for a ministry to take children to Wednesday evening church service. Pastor Rouse says the church is searching for vehicles to rent.
Right now, this is believed to be an isolated incident. The church across the street was left untouched. You are being asked to call the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department at (205) 325-1450 if you have any information about the incident.
