Copper thieves are wreaking havoc on one Central Alabama community, and you won't believe who they're targeting.
Two Lipscomb churches had a total of six air conditioners ripped apart this week. For one of the churches, this is the second time it's been hit by copper thieves since mid-May. The church administrator at Christian Walk Baptist Church caught a photo of a man who police have now named a 'Person of Interest.' Police even spotted the man walking down the street.
"As me and my partner were talking about the guys passed us. We turned around and the guy just took off running. We weren't able to catch up with him. We went back to the church and church had a good picture of the guy of interest that we have," says Lipscomb Police Officer Antonio Allums.
If you have any information on this person of interest, you're asked to please call the Lipscomb Police Department or the Jefferson County Sheriff Department.
