"Nothing ventured nothing gained", said City Council President Carole Smitherman. The Birmingham City Council is not fighting Mayor Larry Langford's efforts to bring the 2020 Summer Olympics to Alabama.
The application for the bid will cost $500,000. While Mr. Langford wants the business community to split the cost, he will also approach other cities in the area that have venues that could be used to host events. Regardless of the outcome, Mayor Langford says nothing will delay or stop the application process. He hopes by the end of the year the city can complete the application.

LaLaLangford at it again, spending other people's money without even a second thought. I think that if he is so BLASTED CONVINCED that it would work and Birmingham could host the Olympic Games then I give him permission to SPEND THE $500,000.00 out of HIS POCKET and then and only then would I support this IDIOT, The Olympic Village alone would be almost as big as Birmingham so where is he going to start building it, I know "UNCLE MILTY" McGREGOR can call in his VERY BIG FAVOR and construction will start out behind the Race Course and that would do it. WHAT A FOOL he has made out of all the IDIOTS that voted for him.
