The mother of a man who died after being tased by Birmingham police was joined by more than 2 dozen supporters at city hall to protest his death. 43 Year old Willie Maye died after being tased on the night of June 5th after a traffic stop. He was a passanger in the car that was pulled over.
Today his mother Corrine Dixon and the protestors were calling for a full investigation into his death and they took their case to the city council. Council voted to suspend the use of tasers, pending Mayor Langfords approval, until the investigation into Maye's death is complete.
Family members also got to meet with Birmingham Police Chief A. C. Roper for the first time today. He assured them that if any wrongdoing is found the appropriate action will be taken.
