Don Hawkins has been hosting Life Perspectives from the basement of the Southeastern Bible College for almost 20 years.
Don says one of the reasons they started Life Perspectives is that they perceived a need for a program committed to ministry, committed to encouragement without asking anything in return. He also says that radio and TV provide him with the opportunity to give things of value to people with a Christian message and the opportunity to tell people about Christ. Present Him as the answer for the problems they are facing in life.
He fields questions about life's problems - he also believes with God's help, his show has been a life saver. Especially for a woman who was once suicidal. Hawkins says she called in a couple of weeks ago and says she is doing well, and while she wanted to give God the credit, she thinks the program has been really a big factor in her life.
The show features a counselor and offers prayer to his listeners, but the bottom line to his broadcasts is encouragement. He quotes one of his major sponsors for the show's reason for being.
Don says Truett Catthey, founder of Chick-fil-A has a great saying... he says you can tell if a preson needs encouragement if they are breathing.
