This is a place you can find a hot cup of coffee, plenty of chocolate, and lots of good conversation.
It's not a coffee shop or a neighbor's home, it's Loraine's Wig Shop. Phyllis Burgin is battling breast cancer and found a friend in Loraine. She says she realized it would be OK after she shaved her hair and put the wig on.
Loraine McDonald says the business is more of a ministry than about making money. She ways when people come in she wants it to be like a visit. They laugh and giggle and eat chocolate and drink coffee. When they leave you've made a friend for life.
Loraine was inspired to go into the wig business by her aunt. She too has battled breast cancer, but she credits her faith in God for getting her through it. When Lorain went through tough times, her aunt was there to continue to inspire and direct her to open Hair Options in Hoover. She says with her aunt's support, and plenty of faith, she went into her own business. Her own headaches help her understand the women who walk through the door and the kind of support they need.
