Center Point - Jefferson County sheriff's deputies are searching for a man who shot someone at an apartment in Center Point on Saturday morning.
Deputies were called to the 1900 block of East Bend Circle just before 10:30am. The victim told police he was at his girlfriend's home when the suspect came to the door. Investigators say the suspect has two children with the girlfriend, however he does not live at the apartment.
The girlfriend opened the door and the suspect pushed past her and started punching and hitting the victim. The suspect knocked the man to the ground and pulled out a gun.
Investigators say the suspect took the victim's wallet and shot him in his leg after he got up from the ground.
The suspect left the apartment and the sheriff's department says he is still on the loose.
Center Point paramedics took the victim to UAB Hospital where he is being treated for a non-life threatening injury.
