Brilliant, AL - A father taking his six year old son to school in Marion County was met by robbers. Joseph Burleson says three men were waiting outside his basement door and demanded money. At gunpoint, they forced him and his son upstairs to his safe. Burleson says after taking out the 10 to 15-thousand dollars in the safe, three men --with faces covered- tied the father and son up then fled in his white Ford Expedition. Burleson was able to work himself a lose and call 9-1-1 . A short time later -- the Expediton was found wrecked and abandoned on county road 47 about five miles from Burleson's home. Other than the shock, they were not seriously harmed. The robbers fled. Burleson says the strange thing about it -- the suspects knew much about him and his family...but, he could not make out who they were. He believes they may be connected to someone who was repairing a roof in the area. Brilliant's Police Chief, David Oliver says they are following good leads in the case.
