(Sports Network) - The St. Louis Cardinals placed outfielder Ryan Ludwick on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with a strained right hamstring.
Ludwick was hurt in the second inning of Tuesday's game against the Pirates trying to run down a triple hit by Pittsburgh's Nyjer Morgan.
On the season, Ludwick has appeared in 30 games and has eight home runs with 26 runs batted in and a .274 batting average. He is second on the team in home runs and RBI.
To take his place on the roster, the Cardinals recalled outfielder Nick Stavinoha from Triple-A Memphis. He was batting .264 with a team-high four home runs, 25 RBI and .427 slugging percentage in 30 games for Memphis.
Stavinoha appeared in 29 games for the Cards last season and batted .193 with four runs batted in.
